As referred to in the previous update, the Draft Local Plan review continues into (22 2018. However, Eastleigh Borough Council was one of 14 Local Planning Authorities that were specifically written to by National Government informing them of possible intervention given the delay in the preparation of their new Local Plan, In response, the council have reviewed their current timeline and have set out the remaining steps as follows:

The current plan identifies large windfall sites for delivery of their housing target but there remains a shortfall of 5,600 houses coupled with an overflow of 2000 from Southampton that will need new greenfield sites to be identified. We continue to make the necessary representations to the LPA in promotion of our site as one of these additional sites alongside the need for the site to assist with traffic alleviation measures within the Bursledon area specifically,
